From the desk of the President….
This summer, after a much needed vacation, I am off to Zimbabwe and South Africa with Barnabas Ministries, and to network with our South African leadership. Following that (early September) I am off to Rwanda for a very important conference, sponsored by Dr. Phil Tutor of New Life City Church in Safford, Arizona. Both these trips are long and highly strategic, and I will need much prayer and financial support to make them all that I believe the Lord wants them to be for his Kingdom.
I am excited about both trips, but must emphasize one…so Rwanda it is, as this is my first time to this emerging and strategic nation. Again, as mentioned, I am invited by Dr. Phil Tutor, who, in a letter to a potential sponsor of our trip, wrote the following:
“In 2007, I was asked by Harold Eberle (now Dr. Harold Eberle, a Vision Graduate, as is Dr. Tutor) to bring the Commencement Address to 7 of his 13 Bible Colleges (who have used Vision curriculum for over 15 years) in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya. To be honest, there has never been a desire to go to Africa since I had already spent 10 years working with missionaries in Peru. The African trip was going to be a “one time experience” and I wasn’t looking forward to all the vaccinations required to keep me from becoming infected with illnesses no longer prevalent in this country. Little did I know, my heart would quickly become infected with the people of Rwanda. Upon landing in Kigali (the capital city), the Lord spoke a clear word to me. Simply put, He said, “Rwanda will become the emerging nation in reconciliation, forgiveness, and the ability to rise from the ashes of the 1994 genocide.” I’ve seen that word unfold over the last 6 years.
Since my first visit, doors have opened to the political and faith leaders in an unprecedented way. I’ve been honored to meet with the following governmental leaders over the last 6 years. The Chief Advisor to President Kagame, The Prime Minister, The Minister of Local Government, The CEO of Rwandan Governance, The Speaker of Parliament, The Mayor of Kigali, The Director General of Community Development, The Minister of Education, The Director General of Radio and Television, and a host of lesser government leaders. I’ve been scheduled to meet with President Kagame on two occasions, but because of conflicting flights and emergencies, these meetings are planned at a later visit. I give you these names, not in a boastful way, but rather to show “the favor of God” on whomever He chooses. New Life City Church is located in a small Mormon community of 10,000 in the southeast corner of Arizona. Our attendance runs around 200 and at age 69, I thought my days of ministry was pretty much winding down. Apparently not so!
Since I believe the Kingdom of God is a present reality, I focus on one aspect of the Kingdom, ie: “Kingdom Purpose,” which seeks to change culture, beliefs and become multi-generational (of course, this is a part of the Vision for the International Training and Education Network and Vision International University). I’ve sought to do this by conducting conferences on “Leading from the Heart. “ Such subjects include : Standards, Wounds and Offences, Honor, Authority, Unity, and Developing Vision, to name a few. Both the faith community and the Rwandan government have embraced these teachings. In fact, I, along with Dr. Stan DeKoven and Bishop Patrick Mutware will be conducting a conference in September entitled, “Rwanda Reborn, Coming of Age!” The government and the faith community are partnering with us in these meetings, something never done in the past !!! Delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Congo, Burundi, and Tanzania will be in attendance. We will also be conducting a conference in Nyagatare, ( President Kagame’s home town). We are seeking to raise $25,000 minimum to cover the expenses for these meetings and would be honored if you would prayerfully consider investing in this Kingdom endeavor.
The long range goal is to plant Technical/Bible Colleges in Kigali and Nyagatare. We’ve purchased property in both cities and the government is enthusiastic about this approach to education. Dr. DeKoven and the Vision team already have the expertise and curriculum in place. We will be meeting with the Minister of Education while in Kigali to discuss further possibilities of this approach to education.
Thanks again for hearing me out and I trust you will prayerfully consider investing in this nation changing endeavor ! Blessings to you !! Phillip Tutor”
It will be such an honor to return to our beloved Africa, South and East. As with all of our work we go in faith, and with thanksgiving for the generosity of our partners around the world.
As most of you know, ITEN/Vision is a strategic and very cost-effective ministry around the world. Many of you have already partnered with us to reach nations for Christ. Essentially, we offer two programs to church leaders around the world. One is a basic discipleship plan, and the other is our Resource Center (essentially a bible college in the local church) under the direct supervision and influence of local leadership, supported by ITEN/Vision. It is estimated that the start up costs to develop a typical curriculum, catalogs, administrative systems, etc., necessary to begin a quality School of Ministry would exceed $35,000. We are able to provide a turnkey operation for the local church at a fraction of the cost. When a church becomes affiliated with ITEN/Vision, we provide expertise and all the resources necessary to establish a quality, accredited and affordable Bible College to equip men and women for service and leadership. Our tuition is stratified to the local national economy, offering up to a 95% “scholarship” in poorer nations of the world.
