Happy New Year! I hope your 2013 Christmas holiday was filled with joy, and that your after Christmas diet has begun well! This is our first update of the year, and will feature this, my brief article to follow, a deeper look at our Africa World Zone with Dr. Steve Mills, and a couple of other goodies to start the new year off right. First, my article.
Each year we hear some of the most interesting prophetic words. Unlike most Christians, who are probably wiser than me, I pay attention to the prophets. Significant prophesies I write down both personal and corporate, and review them periodically, even use them in prayer. Of course, not every prophetic word has equal merit…some are ridiculous, some sublime. We don’t always know the motivation of an individual prophet, but even the wackiest of the lot no longer fears stoning…probably they should just be ignored.
Please hear me though, I do not despise prophecy, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophesy, and the gift of prophecy, designed to edify, exhort and console (1 Cor. 14:3) is still needed. We all need words from the Lord! But it is not this type of prophecy I am really referencing, it is the predictive, futuristic “Thus sayth the Lord” that most want to hear…we want to know the future (or do we)?
If you searched the web, you would no doubt find a plethora of predictions from known and want to be known prophets regarding 2014. They range from the dispensationalist “Jesus is coming back in 2014,” to the prosperity prophets who see nothing but silver linings, to the gloom and doom that, due to President Obama, or Fox News, or abortion or homosexual marriage, God is bringing down the hammer of judgment on America! Well, I am not one who believes ignorance is bliss…I keep my ear to, both, the ground and towards heaven, and observe the times and seasons. I pray regularly for wisdom, to make healthy decisions for myself and the ministry I steward. But I am convinced Paul was right when he stated (1 Cor. 14:32-33), “spirits of the prophets are subject to prophets, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.”
So, what should we anticipate for 2014…well, here are my 7 (it has to be) predictions for your reading pleasure; (with some help from Dr. Lee Stutzman)
Jesus will yet remain Lord over heaven and earth, and if I submit my life to him, he will reign over me.
The Kingdom of God will continue to advance as promised in scripture.
There will continue to be espoused from the four corners of the Kingdom heresy and pure doctrine; charismatic witchcraft practiced and significant miracles will occur.
Churches will grow, decline or stay the same.
The enemies of God will continue to fight against the five Churches.
Grace and truth remain the center of who Jesus is and the church should be.
Next January we will again wonder where did the time go, did I serve well, and what will 2015 bring.
The International Training and Education Network and Vision International University enjoyed a blessed 2013, seeing a steady stream of new students and resource centers for us to minister to, both nationally and internationally. We are so grateful to all our partners for their help to “take the whole word to the whole world” and “Prepare Leaders in the 21st Century”.
We have set new objectives for the coming year which include:
Expanding distribution of the Bible College in a Box around the world.
Further developing networking relationships with other ministries around the world.
Adding 3 new degree students per week for 2014.
Continue translation of Vision materials into other languages.
Adding at least 10 new US based Resource Centers and 20 new Mentor centers in 2014.
Launch our new and updated On Line Learning Systems, one for the International Training College and one for Vision International University
Achieve our renewal of our California State Approval for Vision International University and set the stage for further recognitions.
Please continue to pray with us as we focus on these items, for our Board of Regents and our administrative staff for wisdom, and for the favor of God to help us as we labor for Him this year.

On Christmas morning during a Skype call with Jacob, Kim and Jame we were shown the Official Adoption Certificate
James is now officially Jacob and Kim’s son (and of course our grandson). Please continue to pray for them as they process through the remaining paperwork to get his visa so they can come to the States to apply for his US citizenship and US passport. Thank you for your prayer support during the adoption process.
Hindu Convert Planting Churches
This church was started by a young Hindu man who came to Kuwait to work. While in Kuwait he was led to the Lord, trained in the Bible College and has now gone back to India as a missionary. He is presently working in 15 villages.
The end of April I will be traveling to Beijing, China to participate in the Missional International Church Network Conference (MICN). International Church leaders from around the world will gather to lay out strategy for planting new international churches in the next several years. Lighthouse Outreaches is privileged to be a partner in this new international church planting movement.
