Dear Friends of Vision;
Most every year in San Diego we experience a June gloom. The cloud cover is such that we don’t see the sun until the early afternoon. The negative of this for sun worshipers is they have to wait the morning out to get their vitamin D. For the rest of us, it is a cooler respite before the heat of the rest of the day.
I suppose our perspective on things often determines our interpretation and determines whether something is positive or negative…from our perspective or opinion. Well, my mom, who went to be with Jesus in August of 2002, had a favorite scripture…Ps. 118:24 “This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” This is often easier said than done, as was seen in my mom’s life and many of ours…but is nonetheless true. It is our choice to rejoice and be glad…June gloom can be a wonderful transition before the real heat of summer.
Tomorrow, June 4, I am off on a road trip to New Life City Church, in Safford, AZ to speak on Re digging the wells. This great church is pastored by Larry Semore and overseen by Dr. Phil Tutor. From there I head to Pasadena, CA for the annual Academic Council for Educational Accountability, which was founded by C. Peter Wagner. We are founding members, and I will be speaking on the topic of Curriculum development. Later this month, I am preaching for Imani Church of God in Christ in Temecula, Clairemont Christian Fellowship, and conducting a seminar on eating disorders and preaching in New Orleans for the Therapon Institute. A busy and hopefully productive month; thanks for your prayers.
Our Expansion on Two Fronts — Update
We continue to be challenged on many fronts, with the following as primary challenges and goals.
First is related to ministry challenges:
We continue in the process of working with California to regain our Religious exempt status with them, which will free us to do all God wants in California and beyond, and will not hinder our accreditation efforts. We have been rejected twice…but have at least found out what they need (a ridiculous typo on our Incorporation papers) and we are in the process of setting things straight. As of today, all has been submitted and we are hopeful for a clear, positive outcome soon…but please keep praying.
We still need to provide more resources for our international outreach, especially in Chinese and German, where we have some wonderful opportunities. Still pending!
Finally, we hope to make a major announcement regarding accreditation soon…stay tuned!
I want to thank you for your faithful assistance in giving as a Gideon 300 member…God is good…your gifts, whatever size, makes a difference…Blessings to you in Jesus wonderful name!
“The Whole Word to the Whole World”
Steve and Kath Mills moved to Kuwait on the 14th of September, 2015 for Steve to be on full time staff with The Lighthouse Church as the Missions Pastor. Due to a set of circumstances outside of their control that position ended the 15th of December, 2015. On the 15th of January, 2016 after much prayer Steve and Kath accepted an invitation for Steve to be the Senior Pastor of a new church plant in Kuwait.
This new church, Crossroad International Church (CIC), is now just over four months old and is steadily growing. Every Friday, the day of worship in Kuwait, there are about 70 adults and around 25 children in attendance. CIC was able to secure a great location in a sports club where they have the main hall which will hold up to about 125 comfortably and 150 jammed. They also use the yoga room for the older children’s ministry and one of the squash courts for the younger children’s ministry and have use of the adjoining soccer field for children’s activities. There is great potential, as the facility is available to have multiple services when needed. Be in prayer for this new church plant in Kuwait.
Presently Steve and Kath are in the country on a 90-day temporary residency visa. For the near future They will have to leave Kuwait every 90 days for 2 days then come back in. Please be in prayer for them as they are looking into possibilities of obtaining a regular residency visa again. There are several options and they need direction from the Lord of which option to pursue.
Steve is still traveling globally when possible doing leadership seminars and helping to train Vision Resource Center staff. In March he was in Ethiopia with Dr. Scott Richie working with Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church training national youth leaders under the direction of a Vision graduate. Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church has around nine thousand churches across Ethiopia with more than eight million members. Sixty percent of their member are youth. This was a great time to pour into the leaders of these youth leaders who were going back to their areas of ministry to teach those under them what they were being taught. How excited to see 2 Timothy 2:2 fulfilled! The first two weeks of May Steve was in Nigeria with Pastor Morris Yeedoun the West Africa/Francophone Africa Director for Vision. They did a leadership conference and a time of training for the Resource Center Directors. In August and again in October Steve is scheduled to travel to Pakistan working with a network of churches outside of Lahore to hopefully start a new Resource Center for them. Please be in prayer for Steve as he travels.
Dr. Steve and Dr. Stan co-authored a book, Financial Integrity, God’s Plan For Financial Freedom. This book is in the final stages of publication and will be available soon. Watch for more details!

WE OFFER: a supportive association of fellow counselors working in the church and para-church ministries, professional certification, and continuing education. We are delighted to have you check us out, and we are here to serve.
History and Purpose of IACCP
The history of IACCP begins in conversations between Dr. Gene Thompson, Dr. Doug Jarrard (both gone home to be with the Lord), Dr. Jason Guerrero and Dr Stan DeKoven regarding the need to establish a professional certifying association of Christian Counseling professionals, that espoused the values of biblical faith with counseling service.
We are one of many such associations that have evolved as alternatives or adjuncts to State Licensure, and more liberal theological associations. IACCP is a new association, but one which is rooted in a rich history of concern and care for Christian professionals in the counseling ministry, that see counseling as ministry first and professional clinical practice, though important, as secondary.
