What a special blessing to be given the gift of a tour of the 7 churches of Revelation by my dear friend Dr. Kim Sam Seong. Since our ill-fated attempt to organize a tour a couple of years back, I have wanted to visit, and the occasion of our World Zone graduation in Antalya, Turkey, primarily for Missionaries in the region, provided the perfect opportunity.
The tour itself was a private one, as I was blessed to be in the company of Dr. Aija Kim, who is a concert pianist also at the conference preceeding and following the graduation, and her delightful husband Son Moon Cho. We were in a private car, and went from church site to church site, seeing the ancient ruins, enjoying beautiful weather and great fellowship.
The highlight for me, besides the graduation, was being in Ephesus. Though the school of Tyrannus in which Paul taught the disciples [Acts 19] has never been discovered by archeologists, I was at least able to get a sense of the circumstances that Paul found himself in, and could visualize a bit better the incredible impact his school had on the region…planting churches that impacted the world of that day.
Of course, none of the physical churches of Asia Minor of Bible days exists [and probably did not exist in buildings during Paul and his disciple’s days, or for many years after that]. The memory of Paul and his methods remains vital and so very motivating for me…and the model is still being used today in our ITEN/Vision schools and training centers led by men like Dr. Kim.
I am certain that Paul did not use curriculum as we do today, but I bet he wishes he had some of the wonderful materials we have. Our conservative Charismatic curriculum, now partially and fully in multiple languages, is transformative. Is is especially so when combined with discipleship mentoring that activates men and woman into their gifts and with strategic planning, such as occurs in our church planting institutes. These programs effectively repeat with wonderful results those found in Antioch, Ephesus, and the rest of the 7 churches…New Testament churches planted everywhere.
How my heart aches to empower more and more churches with the concept of a School of Tyrannus that will touch their city, and also nations for Christ [for more on my thoughts on this, see the article to follow found on the internet, and my book Supernatural Architecture, available for any donation to our ITEN/Vision international outreach. This trip reminded me of the patterns of scripture and their power, the importance of local church, the church of the locality and the strategy that the Lord has graced us with…and also, of the absolute necessity to prepare the next generation for even the largest ministries and churches of today can end up in the condition of the 7 churches…distant memories. This is especially evident when visiting the land of the book of Revelation; Turkey.
We must remember, even though the people of Turkey are precious and in many ways devote, they need, as all people do…
Bread…and Christ is the Bread of Life
Water…Christ is still the living Water
Light…for Jesus is still the Light of the World
A Door to the Father, which is Jesus, and we are the door to Jesus
A way to live life more abundant, and Jesus is still The Way, Truth and Life
Here is a brief update…and we appreciate your continued prayer, and thank you for your generous support of ITEN/Vision.
Please pray for the Chant family, and especially for Sharon Jones, Ken and Alison’s daughter, who lost David Jones to pancreatic cancer. David is the son in law of Ken and Alison Chant, and an Instructor of Vision especially in India.
Also, we continue to remember Brenda Pue, wife of fellow presbyter Dr. Carson Pue of Lighthouse Church Kuwait who is battling life threatening cancer as well and
Dr. Denis Plant, also fighting cancer of the prostate…does not appear to be life threatening, but please lift him up.
Maureen Kelley’s cousin and old friend of mine, Kathleen Bremner passed away recently. Pray for Kelley.
Pray for open doors for the sharing of the gospel and teaching the word around the world.
Ps. one other item of prayer and excitement…Dr. Kim and his team is using Vision resources to prepare men and women committed to give their lives to plant churches throughout Turkey and the Silk Road. Without training, there can be no successful church planting. We are reigniting our Church Planting Institute with its Transformational Curriculum, and preparing a Mentor Training guide for facilitators of our curriculum, to strengthen the work in Central Asia and beyond, in multiple languages. Please pray with us, as we need to raise some serious budget to make this happen…but happen it will.
