Well, some would say there is no rest for the wicked, even in the summer. The fact is, summer is harvest time, it is fun time, and it is rest time. Of course, our summertime is not summer in Australia (but I digress). Anyway, in less than four weeks our staff takes a long deserved vacation…July 14-August 4. We look forward to this, not because we don’t love the work…we do, but because we do need the rest and recreation. In my summer break (which is hard for me to do I must confess), I hope to golf some (thank David Graham), read a lot (thanks to Ramona Public Library and the suggestions of Lee Stutzman), and enjoy time with family and friends. I hope many of you take time to do similar things. Of course, in the middle of our rest, the rest of the world will continue to turn; students will study and send in assignments to be graded, resource centers will offer seminars, people will choose some of Vision Publishing books for their summer reading (seewww.booksbyvision.com). In August we will hit the ground running, for the work of resourcing students and churches, taking the whole word to the whole world and preparing leaders in the 21st century marches on. This is what we do, and the need is increasing, and the Kingdom of God continues to expand. So, it is summer time…and I hope to have some easy living time…and I hope you do as well.
In the Meantime
I hope you will take a few minutes to read through the articles we have provided for you. This month we have 3…one by a new friend with a great book on prayer (titled Outrageous Prayer)…the explanation for the book and its importance is provided by the author, David Freitag. Secondly, we have an update from one of our World Zone Leaders for ITEN, and VIU alumnus Dr. Gail Stathis. We also feature her book on leadership…which is an excellent read as well for this summer. Finally, an article by our Australian founder and President, Dr. Ken Chant (who we celebrate in August in Sydney) on the importance of Church-based training…and we could feature one of Dr. Chant’s books, but no. Dr. Stan wants to feature his new book, “Walk in Wisdom.” sorry Dr. Chant. So, have a great read…now, Outrageous Prayer.
