What you'll need for the Admissions Process

Vocational Ministry Training Programs (Years 1-3):


  • For Admission into Years 1-2 (Associate of Arts), the prospective student must possess a high school or equivalent diploma and provide official transcripts.
  • For admission into Year 3 (Advanced Diploma), the prospective student must possess an Associate's degree or at least 60 transferable credit hours in biblical studies, theology, or the humanities.

All students applying for admission into the programs above must also submit an Application for Admission, related admissions documentation, and pay the application fee.

Bachelor's Program:

Prospective students must:


  • Possess a high school or equivalent diploma.
  • Provide transcripts of all high school and/or undergraduate work with a grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a recognized college or university. Such transcripts must reflect a minimum of 60 semester hours of college-level work.
  • Submit an Application for Admission and pay the application fee.

Master's Programs (M.A., M.T.S., M.Div.):

Prospective students must:


  • Possess a bachelor's degree (or its foreign equivalent) from a recognized college or university.
  • Admission into the Master of Arts program requires a minimum of 30 undergraduate transcript credit hours in General Education courses.
  • Admission into the Master of Theological Studies program requires a minimum of 15 undergraduate or graduate transcript credit hours in Theological/Biblical Studies courses.
  • Provide transcripts of all high school and/or undergraduate work with a grade point average of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent from a recognized college or university.
  • Provide transcripts of any graduate courses, showing a grade of B or higher (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent from a recognized institution. (See "Transfer of Credits.")
  • Submit a VIU Application for Admission and pay the application fee.
  • Provide a professional résumé.

International Applicants:

Students with English as a second language are required to score a minimum of 450 on the TOEFL or an equivalent English-as-a-second-language test before they will be allowed to take VIU courses, which are taught in English.
