Dear Friend of Vision
“And Jesus was going about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. And seeing the multitudes, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to His disciples, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest” (Mt. 9: 35-38)
Part of our goal in teaching is to see our students activated into ministry…and preferably with power and not just words. Jesus taught his disciples, who would become apostles, a pattern of sorts…go, teach, proclaim, heal. All of this was motivated by love in action, or compassion. He recognized that people in need are people in need…and they will likely look anywhere they can to find a solution. Jesus was the solution, as are we, and the process of seeing the Kingdom of God proclaimed is to equip our students and congregations with a heart of compassion to go, teach the Word, with the Presence of God, and with Power…just as Jesus taught his disciples to do.
