Dear Friend of Vision
“Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold ; new things have come. “ (2 Co. 5:17)
What a pivotal scripture this is for believers. For everyone who is in Christ, and of course Christ is in us, we become instantaneously a brand new being. We are not the same old self on a road to recovery; we are a brand new person, on a new path, the Kingdom path.
We join the great company of believers, the body of Christ. Whatever was old, including sin, is gone, forgiven, past, and all is new…we have eternal life, we are eternal beings, and we have eternal purpose now and moving forward.
Remembering this truth is important as we teach and train others, especially as we see the weaknesses in our students or parishioners. They are new…in spite of how Old the self might look. They are a new creation…and are fully what God intended, though perhaps not fully acting like the new creation they are in Christ.
Our students and parishioners are more likely to manifest the character of God when we remind them of who they are rather than pointing out how they act like who they were.
