Well, sometimes making a decision, even an important one can be made worse due to lack of information (as to which course of action is best) or a lack of caring, or sometimes fear and lack of experience lead to difficulty in making a necessary decision.

Of course, we do make decisions every day of our life. To get up, go to work, pray, not pray, are all decisions. When decision making is critical, however, is when the consequences of a decision might be problematic (to marry or not to marry, to quite a job and seek another, etc.). This is where wisdom, council, research and common sense become important. The word of God provides guidance for us, but rarely specific answers (except things like should I steal that candy bar…the answer is obvious, no additional guidance is needed). Thus, we need to know the principles of the Word of God, use the good brain God has given us, seek wise counsel, and make the most informed decision possible given the information we have…and trust God.

The Word of God:

Proverbs 3:3, 6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.”

Proverbs 16:33

“The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.”

Joel 3:14

“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
