HOPE

HOPE

Definition:

Hope is the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that event will turn out well. It can include looking forward to something with desire and reasonable confidence, to believe, desire or trust.

Brief Explanation:

Many people come to counseling with an ever increasing and overwhelming sense of hopelessness. Hope is a key component for healing, but is not always easy to find in the midst of what seems hopeless.

Counselors can help by coming along side of a client and, as it were, lending your faith and hope to the client. Just knowing that you are a caring person, and are willing to walk with a person in a time of need provides enough hope that with God’s help normalcy in life will return. Of course, we do not want to give false hope (guarantee of healing, health, prosperity, etc.), but real hope in God and the healing process he has provided to his children.

The Word of God:

1 Corinthians 13:7, 13

“Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. But now abides faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.”

Colossians1:27

“To whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope in glory.”

Titus 3:7

“…that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

Hebrews 6:19

“…which we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil;”

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.”

1 Peter 1:3

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
