WORSHIP

WORSHIP

Definition:

Worship is the reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object. It includes the ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed with ardent devotion and adoration.

Brief Explanation:

Similar to thankfulness, worship is an important component to a healthy life. Worship is accomplished through service, through the study of the word, and through singing, etc., in church or at home. Worship is also an attitude of gratitude for what the Lord has done.

I have found that a true worshipper of the Lord can be down, but not for long. They can be lonely, but not for long. They can be hurt, but the healing comes as they remain in the presence of the Lord. All of our life is to be lived with a conscious presence of the Lord in our lives. I encourage every counselor to be a worshipper of the Lord, and encourage your clients to be the same. The benefits are multitudinous.

The Word of God:

Exodus 34:1”4

“…for you shall not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God…”

Psalm 29:2

“Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array.”

Psalm 95:6

“Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.”

 Conclusion and Recommendations

There are probably many more topics that could have been provided in this book, but these were deemed by the author as the most important. The key for a counselor is to know both the principles of God’s word and good common sense. Caring for another person by listening carefully and compassionately is the beginning of helping them. Using the word of God, the truth of His word, with wisdom and understanding is most powerful for the person who has an open heart to the Lord.
