Adultry

Definition:

Voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a partner other than the lawful spouse.

Brief Explanation:

In our day of lower standards of morality, adultery and other forms of sexual immorality are pandemic. With easy access to the internet and other forms of temptation, remaining pure is more difficult than perhaps at any other time.  Further, due much to the changes in expectations in relationship (I deserve great sex all the time, whenever I want), when “needs” are not met, options for other relationships not approved by God are explored. When adultery or other forms of un-repented immorality occurs, trust is violated, and the offender must be confronted with truth, sin must be repented of, and healing, if possible, must be pursued.

The Word of God:

Proverbs 6:32

“The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; He who would destroy himself does it.

Matthew 5:27,28

“You have heard that it was said, ’You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Luke 16:18

“Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and he who marries one who is divorced from a husband commits adultery.”

Matthew 15:19

“For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders.”

Proverbs 28:13

“He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper. But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.”

1 John 1:9

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
